Time Spent!
If you have a project that’s not progressing or an obstacle you’re stuck on, start here: take an honest look at the time you’re spending working on it.
Are you actually spending time with it? And is that time being well spent?
Obvious questions? Perhaps. But check-in anyway. Because, more often than not, what I find is that quality time ISN’T being spent. And that’s the problem. (Although the problem will look like something else: “I don’t know how. I don’t know where to start. I don’t know what’s next. We’ve tried everything.” And so on.)
I remember being in a seminar once. And the question asked was: “How do I write my book?” And the questioner was looking for all sorts of hints, tips, tricks and hacks. The seminar leader (an author in his own right) gave a different answer: TIME SPENT WITH THE BOOK!
Don’t allow yourself to fall for the distraction of believing you’re working on the problem (when you’re not) or the distraction that you need some special hack. Instead: remember one thing.
All anything needs is time and attention.
