Change Resistance or Change Anxiety?
To leaders, everywhere: It’s common to react to another’s resistance with resistance of our own. But what if that “resistance” is actually anxiety that your team is experiencing:
🔹 Fearing punishment for lack of results.
🔹 Fearing loss of power or status.
🔹 Fearing loss of personal identity.
🔹 Fearing loss of group membership.
As leaders, we must lean into a person’s resistance and discover the FEAR that lies beneath. Our response to their anxiety is quite different – and generally, far more productive – than our response to their “resistance”.
