
What Future Self Are You Inspiring Your Team To?
You might have seen my previous post, just yesterday: “What Future Self Are You Consigning Yourself To?“ An interesting thought to consider, noticing how the way we operate throughout the day SIGNALS to ourselves who we are and are becoming.
A next useful thought might be: “What Future Self Am I Inspiring My Team To?”
(The focus, today, is inspiring the team to their potential, not consigning the team to stuckness.)
We all have a team, formally and/or informally. People around us who depend on us and on whom we depend. People who look up to us for inspiration and come to us for guidance. People who contribute to the success of our projects and endeavours.
Given what you are your teams are up to, right now: what version of their Future Self are you inspiring them to live into? Think of the work you assign, the responsibility you delegate, the autonomy you confer and the latitude you grant. Does that inspire the team to realise their potential – or consign them to staying exactly where they are?
Take some time to understand the desired future self of your team members – and run your projects in ways that support the realisation of that future self.
