High Performance Leadership is … Opting in
A Quality of Thought:
High Performance Leadership is … Opting in
In The Godfather Part 3, the Don Michael asks his nephew Vincent to do something for him. Vincent doesn’t flinch, doesn’t hesitate: “no problem, I’m in, what’d you need?” “It’ll be dangerous.” “Good,” he says.
I often recall that scene. And I don’t know quite why I’ve made the association, but it always reminds me: high performing leaders opt in.
- They take responsibility.
- They square-up to the task.
- They dance with any fear.
- They say “count me in”.
You don’t have to be Vincent Mancini-Corleone to be a high-performing leader. But you do need to opt in.
