Bring a little improv

Bring a little improv

.20 May 2024.

A while back, my youngest son and I went to an improv class. It was awesome. Highly recommended. And to boot, it generated some great ideas for improving my team leadership skills … 🤓

1️⃣
Listen and be in the moment. It’s amazing what can happen when we let go and work with what’s there.

2️⃣
Give back to others more than they give to you. Focus on making the other person look good. Everything flows better.

3️⃣
Switch hats: leader, follower, star, extra. See through the eyes of the other person. Know when to direct, and when to suggest.

4️⃣
Enjoy making GLORIOUS mistakes. 🤪 When others are struggling, help out but don’t rescue them.

5️⃣
Be in service to the project and the team. Keep coming back to the primary story thread. Love the whole thing, in its entirety.

Whenever we’re in a group of people – especially if we’re leading that group – there are going to be moments we need to improvise. 😉 Let’s embrace that idea …
