What’s worth doing?
Everything has its price, including our goals.
We rarely enjoy that thought. It reduces life to nickels, dimes and a scarcity mindset, when what we want to believe in is a world full of value, contribution and abundance.
But refusing to square-up to the truth of price, especially when it comes to our GOALS, we end up in denial, wasting time, energy and emotion on half-measures that will never achieve our objective.
You can have anything you want, so long as you’re willing to pay the price for it. Pay that price. And you’ll get what you want. That’s as true for your goals as anything else in life.
And don’t let yourself deny this truth “because if it were true, I’d be a millionaire by now.” We wouldn’t. Because there’s a price there which we haven’t (yet) paid.
To adopt this mindset and make it work for us, we need 3 things. (i) Clarity on what we want. (ii) Knowing the price for it. And (iii) having the will to pay that price. Bring one of your key goals to mind, now …
🔹 What’s the price of your goal? 🔹
Is it time?
Effort?
Making 100 phone calls?
Making a single outlandishly bold request.
Achieving the mastery of a new skill?
Taking on a significant risk?
Publishing a controversial piece of work?
Moving out of your current professional circle?
Opening yourself up to criticism?
Accepting new levels of challenge into your life?
Some other deeply uncomfortable step?
Are you willing to pay that price? Too often, we don’t pay the (true) price for our goals – and then wonder why we’re not achieving them. Whittle-away the excuses and notice we just weren’t willing to pay the requisite price.
We made one or two calls and then gave up. We began our education of a new skill but didn’t stick with it long enough to take it stratospheric. We knew the risk, but it was beyond our tolerance. We knew publication was the next step, but just didn’t want to put it out there.
Figure out the price of your goal. And pay it.
Or accept that you’re unwilling. And refocus your energy elsewhere.

🔹 Am I willing to pay it?
