Perfectionism is procrastination
If we’re not shipping our work because we want it to be “perfect”, we’re not perfectionists. We’re procrastinators.
“Perfectionist” is the more acceptable label. But unless we’re actually putting the work out there and engaging in the publication-feedback-iteration loop, it’s not about perfecting. It’s about keeping it away from potential criticism.
Drop your perfectionist label. Ship your work. And say, “bring it on!”
One more thing: dropping the perfectionist label doesn’t mean you must discard your exacting standards. If it’s not right, it’s not right. But hold that distinction keenly in mind: perfectionism vs. standards.
Drop your perfectionist label. Keep your standards. Ship your work.
