
Unfinished Business
A Quality of Thought: “Unfinished Business”.
Take a moment to notice just how much of your stress, strain and burden comes from “Unfinished Business”.
Put aside those bigger projects that are naturally going to run for some time. Put aside those undertakings that are waiting on someone else or something else. Put aside complex strategies and implementations.
(Although even in these cases, a cadence of brain-friendly “intermediate completion” is still possible.)
And we’re still left with so much Unfinished Business from all those intraday activities, left open. Interrupted. Disturbed. Punctuated by other business. Started, but not completed. Revisited, but not done.
A huge energy drain that leaves us feeling ineffective and way-behind. Yet to which, we are the PRIMARY CREATORS!
Unfinished Business is a choice we make: continually, throughout the day. We are constantly taking decisions to leave business unfinished. As in: when we …
• Schedule a piece of work into a timeslot obviously too short.
• Kickstart a task with inadequate preparation and planning.
• Say “Yes” to something that needs a “Not Now”.
• Consult our mood (“Do I feel like doing this?”) rather than being a pro.
• Undertake the next task without setting the intention to complete it.
Resolve today to have 0 (zero!) Unfinished Business.
