Busy Work = Not Enough Meaningful Projects!
When business descends into a holding pattern, it’s easy for busy work to take hold.
We’re used to filling our working days with … work. And in the absence of anything else, we’d rather be working on busy (non?) work than idling.
But there is another choice. To spend that downtime THINKING. Reflecting. Anticipating. Creating. Preparing. Making the most of this gifted headroom. And making a project of our newly available “extra” time.
If you’re a leader of people, I invite you to listen beneath the words of your team: because few are likely to self-describe as having nothing to do. Plus, it’s rarely true: there’s always something. But does the team have MEANINGFUL work to do? And if not: is that their oversight or yours?
We’re never more energised than when we’re working on our projects. And we’re never more in need of an energy injection than when we’re idling in a holding pattern. Don’t leave your team to its busy work. Get strategic. Get inspired. And …
Give your people a meaningful project.
