Thinking About the Thinking
Q. What percentage of your thinking is about the solution, as opposed to the problem?
I love this question – for two reasons. The first: it places us firmly in goal territory. And strengthens our vision-thinking circuits to find yet-more solutions. The second: it gets us thinking about the thinking. It quietens our conscious mind and lets unconscious thinking come through.
Thinking about the thinking can really help us get unstuck when we otherwise can’t think our way out of a problem.
So this week, take a tangential standpoint and notice what you notice about your thinking: How have I been thinking about this issue up to now? How does my thinking about this compare to my thinking about other topics? What percentage of my thinking is about the solution, as opposed to the problem?
